Invisalign®

If you’re wanting to improve your smile from too much crowding, rotations, gaps, or other issues and aren’t wanting to wear traditional braces, then Invisalign® may be the treatment for you! We are a certified Invisalign provider and have been treating our patients with Invisalign to improve their smiles since 2004.

What exactly is Invisalign, you ask?

It is a discreet orthodontic treatment option for straightening teeth. Rather than traditional braces that use metal brackets and wires (which can be rough and very uncomfortable in your mouth), the Invisalign system uses a series of custom-made, computer-generated clear (almost invisible) smooth plastic aligners to straighten your teeth. Each set of aligners is designed to make small changes to the alignment of your teeth. As you switch these sets of aligners (about every four days to two weeks, depending on your teeth), your teeth will gradually and gently move to their proper positions. You’ll be visiting our office about once a month on a regular basis during treatment to make certain your smile is progressing as planned.

In general, Invisalign can be used to treat the same orthodontic issues that are normally treated with traditional braces, such as:

  • Crowded teeth

  • Crooked teeth

  • Gapped and spaced teeth

  • Certain problems with the bite, such as an overbite, open bite, underbite, or crossbite

What we really like (and you will too) about Invisalign aligners versus traditional braces is the ability to take them off to eat anything you want and make it easy to thoroughly clean your teeth. Generally, regular braces make it difficult to brush and especially floss, so many people in braces simply don’t have good oral hygiene. It is cumbersome and takes too much time. With all the research coming in about the value of good oral habits, keeping your mouth clean is important. What we love about the Invisalign program is that the aligners are removable. This allows you to do a nice job taking good care of your teeth and gums. You’ll feel healthier while teeth are moving, and you’ll have a better opportunity to control gingivitis (inflammation with bleeding gums). No barriers to flossing. We like that.
